Skitally privacy policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026.
Skitally is a ski and snowboard tracker. It is built so that your ski days stay yours.
The short version
- There are no accounts. Skitally does not know who you are.
- Your recorded days (the GPS track, runs, speeds and statistics) are stored only on your phone. They are never uploaded to us.
- Your position leaves the phone in exactly one case: you joined a friends group and you are recording a day with "Share my position" switched on. Then it goes to your group only.
- We do not sell data, show ads or track you across other apps and websites.
What stays on your phone
Everything you record: tracks, runs, lifts, speeds, vertical, notes, your logbook and your season statistics. Deleting a day deletes it for good. Deleting the app deletes everything.
If you turn on "Save days to Apple Health", each finished day is written to Apple Health as a workout with its route. Skitally never reads anything from Health.
Friends
Friends groups are optional. When you create or join a group, our friends service stores:
- a random identifier and secret key generated by your phone (not tied to your name, Apple Account, phone number or advertising identifier),
- the nickname you typed and the group name,
- while you record a day with sharing on: your last position, altitude, speed and whether you are on a lift or skiing, updated about every 15 seconds.
Only members of the same group can see this. A position older than 15 minutes is never shown. Switching sharing off or ending the day removes your position at once. Leaving a group removes you from it. A group nobody has used for 14 days is deleted automatically.
Maps
Resort maps (pistes and lifts) ship inside the app. The base map and terrain are loaded from Mapbox when you look at a map; like any website, its servers see your IP address and which map area was requested. Mapbox's own usage telemetry is switched off in Skitally. The 3D replay uses Apple Maps. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors and © Mapbox.
Product analytics
To understand which features are used, Skitally sends anonymous usage events to our own analytics server (no third-party analytics company): which screen was opened, that a recording started or finished (number of runs, duration, whether the resort was recognised), that a resort page was opened, and purchase steps (product identifier, never an amount). Events carry a random installation identifier created by the app and are not linked to you. They never contain coordinates, your track, group codes or nicknames. The server derives country and region from the request's IP address and does not store the address itself.
Purchases
Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We receive no payment details.
Your choices
- Turn location off in iOS Settings: recording stops working, nothing else changes.
- Leave a friends group or switch sharing off at any time in the Friends tab.
- Delete days in the logbook, or delete the app to remove everything.
